Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of her four siblings, was born on 8 August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. From a very young age, her dental doctors parents and teacher mother supported Audrey's love of theatre and drama. The passion for theater was the one which trumped her original desire to become a an animal scientist. When she was a teenager the rise to fame was rapid and marked with the beginning of her success. When she graduated in 1998, her degree she was invited to take part in Jeunes Premiers which is a French TV talent-scouting programme that was sponsored by Canal+. There she was awarded the prize for the Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. The result was that she decided to begin her professional career as an actor. Tautou attended church and the Institut Catholique de Paris during her childhood, but she is now separating herself from these upbringings. Along with her acting career, she pursued a modelling career. She is also the spokesperson for L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and often called The Chanel Muse. Recently, at the Arles Arts Festival, she displayed a collection of photographs under the title Superficial. Her work is focused on celebrities and fame. The exhibition also includes an assortment of self-portraits as well as a particular focus on the media that has been watching Tautou's career since her dramatic success following Amelie. Audrey Tautou's worldwide popularity and success exploded following her appearance as Amelie Poulain's main woman in Le Fabuleux in the film d'Amelie. Amelie was recognized internationally because of its box-office success. It also received praise in award ceremonies all over the globe. It remains the highest grossing French language film to be released in the US. In the following year, she appeared in British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things as well as Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long Sunday de Faancailles. In the following year, she moved to Hollywood to work in Hollywood, where Ron Howard directed the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
