Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 in the Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi who was the Romanian gymnastics coach who later became her coach later on, discovered her at age six. The year 1969 was the first time she took part at the Romanian Junior Championships and placed 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. In 1972, in an event for communist-controlled countries' juniors before the Olympics, she took home three medals of gold. After that, in 1973 and '74 she was the overall junior champion. In her first international competition as a senior, in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion, winning 4 gold medals and one silver. She was the winner of the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first woman in history to complete the backward double salto in a dismount from the uneven bars parallel to each other. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her career in the world of entertainment began in her teens, when she began performing as a figure skater along with her twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on 6th September, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol started her professional career as an entertainer during her teenage years. At the age of 13 she was a figure skater on the show Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. Ice Capades was a show that featured skaters ice skating performed by actors.
